Seres EV Launch Set for Nepal: Grand Debut on the Horizon!

HIGHLIGHTS

SERES EVs will soon launch in the Nepali market.

MAW Group and SERES Group announced a strategic partnership on February 2023, introducing brand new EVs in Q3 of 2023 through the extensive MAW network.

Dongfeng and Jikang jointly established SERES.

It consists of five English letters to reach perfect symmetry in word form. “S” represents Silicon Valley, “E” represents EVs, and “R” represents Range-Extended.

Moreover, it was among the first batch of Chinese auto companies to enter the European market.

The company currently offers Seres 3 and Seres 5 in the international market.

Seres Nepal will launch the Seres 3 considering that it fits the bill for the Nepali market. Moreover, it is rumored for unveiling at the NADA Auto 2023.

Regardless, let’s take a quick look at the Seres electric cars price in Nepal along with its key specifications for 2023.

Starting with the first Seres compact SUV.

Seres 3 is powered by a 120kW PMSM Motor. It generates a max power of 163PS and max torque of 300Nm, boasting performance figures of 160kmph top speed and 0-100kmph in 8.9 seconds!

It comes with a 53kWh Ternary Lithium battery.

The battery can fully charge in 9 hours via a 6.6kW Charger. Moreover, it does 405km on a single charge.

Interestingly enough, it also supports 147kW DC fast charging! That will bring down the charging time under half an hour.

Seres 3 price in Nepal is yet to be revealed.

It is priced at $35,000- $37,000 in the international market.

However, it should be priced at around Rs. 60 Lakhs to Rs. 90 Lakhs, especially considering its specs, features, and style.

It is just an speculation on my part so take it with a grain of salt.

The Seres 3 will rival Tata Nexon EV and MS ZS EV based on its pricing.

Let’s keep an eye out for it until it arrives in the Nepali market.

Moving to a more premium EV, Seres 5.

Seres 5 is powered by a 220kW PMSM Motor. It generates a max power of 300PS and max torque of 420Nm, boasting performance figures of 250kmph top speed and 0-100kmph in 3.5 seconds!

It comes with an 80kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery.

The battery can (20%-90%) charge in 7 hours via an 11kW Charger. Moreover, it does 500km on a single charge.

Interestingly enough, it also supports 147kW DC fast charging! That will bring down the charging time to under 42 minutes.

Additionally, it is available in 80kWh and 90kWh options in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. Knowing the Nepali EV trends, Seres Nepal will likely opt for the 80kWh – 2WD option.

Seres 5 price in Nepal will be on the premium side.

For reference, the base variant starts at around $70,000 in the international market. Taking the converted rate along with taxation, the Nepali price will surely fall on the steeper side.

That is why we will not see the Seres 5 anytime soon.

If it did launch with a premium price tag, it would compete against premium EVs like the Tesla, Hyundai Ionic, and Kia EV6.

Considering those special circumstances, nobody would opt for a new brand over a legacy one. So, the Seres 5 will not arrive in the Nepali market as of now.

Seres EV definitely packs in punch in terms of design, feature, and performance. However, it is difficult to predict the success of any new brand in the Nepali automotive market.

Despite the surrounding controversy, the Neta V continues to be the most sought-after Chinese EV in the market right.

Compared to the two Seres products offered in the international market, the Seres 3 seems to fit the bill for the Nepali masses.

While the details are still scarce, the Seres Nepal will make its debut at the NADA Auto Show! Hopefully, it will get the pricing right.
